About Watson's
Watson’s was established in 1978. It is based in Christchurch and has grown to become the South Island’s leading auction house.
Watson’s specialises in the sale of art, antiques, decorative arts and artefacts, jewellery, household chattels, and wine. Our auctions provide an open market for both sellers and buyers where prices are determined by open competition in the saleroom and where prices often exceed expectations.
Our auctions provide a unique place to learn about the art, antique and collectable markets. Our team of experts are there to advise both buyers and sellers. We attract dealers and collectors from all over New Zealand and internationally.
Our architecturally designed rooms in the heart of Christchurch are made up of three separate salerooms which are individually lit and fitted. These facilities include nearly 1000sqm of floor space. Our ground floor is allocated to antiques and our first floor can hang hundreds of paintings in a temperature controlled environment.
