Toby Macalister
With a decade of experience in the valuation and marketing of fine art, Toby has managed the sale and placement of many of the countries finest and most coveted works of art. Heading the fine art department from 2006, Toby's knowledge of the New Zealand's fine art market and art works from the 19th to 21st centuries is extensive and highly referenced.
The Journey so far:
| London | 1998-2000 |
| Watsons, Christchurch | 2001 - 2003 |
| PWG, USA | 2003-2006 |
| South Africa | 2003 |
Between 2003 and 2006 Toby worked for as an auctioneer for an American Art Gallery. During this time he was responsible for conducting auctions around the world and fortunate to sell works not typically offered in New Zealand, including the European old masters, Durer, Rembrandt and Goya. Toby was also fortunate to have dropped the gavel on unique works from the greats of the 20th Century having personally sold Renoir, Picasso and Chagall works at live auction.
In 2006 after viewing auction houses around the world Toby returned to Christchurch and purchased Watson's Auctioneers and Valuers.
